Born June 22, 1958 in Bristol, PA to Winfield Scott Jr. and Rose Archer. Lived in Levittown, PA
and graduated from Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills, PA.
After graduating from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania , Madonna
moved to New York City, which had always been her dream since she was a child.
Madonna was a gifted bass player in several bands during the 80s and 90s punk rock and hard core
scenes, including Modern Clix, Whole Wide World, Pinkie and other bands. She appears on over seven
full albums with guest recordings on numerous other projects.
Professionally, Madonna coupled her creative talents with her incredible intellect working early in her life
as a buyer for both Montgomery Ward and later Trash and Vaudeville, where she helped shape women’s
fashion in the late 80’s. With the birth of her two sons, she focused nearly her complete effort on raising
them on Staten Island where she routinely led Parent Groups and participated in school and sport
activities. Once her children were both in school, she focused back onto a personal passion of hers;
teaching. First via the Staten Island Botanical Gardens, where she became a “Worm Lady” who taught
composting and gardening to school age children. Later she enrolled at Brooklyn College as part of the
NYC Teaching Fellows program that focused on finding teachers to help underperforming schools. She
graduated magna cum laude and began teaching 6-8 grade math in Bushwick. Eventually, she transferred
to IS 61 where later graduated. In the 15+ years of her teaching career she worked with over 10,000
students.
Throughout her life, even up until her very last months, she loved to travel. She spanned the world with
visits to England, Ireland, Germany, France, Japan, and Mexico; sometimes for music, sometimes for
friends, sometimes a bit of both, some places more than once. She loved places that were warm, Florida,
Hawaii, and yes even Texas where somehow both of her sons wound up. And perhaps most of all, she
loved the sea and the water. An islander, true and true.
