Georgina Colon was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1951. She passed away peacefully at her home in Staten Island, N.Y. on March 7, 2019.
Georgina's first marriage was to Jose Luis Medina, and together they had two sons, Jose (Junior) and George. She later married Luis Rosario who she met while working in Bayley Seton Hospital, and they had a daughter Stephanie. She is also survived by her four loving grandchildren; Sophia, Isabel, Giana and Vincent.
As a young girl and into her young adulthood she lived in Sunset Park, Brooklyn with her mother, Edixodia Tull and her stepfather, Marcial Tull. In the early eighties her and her husband Luis moved to Clifton, Staten Island.
Georgina worked in both Bayley Seton and St. Vincent's Hospital as a Dietary Aide, where she made friends with many of her co-workers. She cherished her time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. They warmed her heart and made her smile everyday.
Georgina lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed laughing with friends and family, cooking, listening to music and traveling. She adored the holidays, especially Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a woman who was always there to console anyone who needed her support. She would drop whatever she was doing to make time for those who needed her help and tender loving care.
Georgina was a proud and loving military Mom to her daughter Stephanie who serves in the United States Navy. She would travel to all the different duty stations where Stephanie served to see her, her son-in-law Robert Perez and her four beautiful grandchildren. She would literally go to the ends of the earth to see her grandchildren. They were her heart and she was their backbone and greatest champion for anything they ever needed. She made the ultimate sacrifice when Stephanie was deployed from Japan.
Her spirit, her words of encouragement, her smile, her laugh, her jokes , her advice , her cooking, her love will be greatly missed by so many.
There will be a visitation at the Martin Hughes Funeral Home, 530 Narrows Road South, Staten Island, NY 10304 from 2-4 & 7-9pm on Wednesday, March 13th.
