Army Veteran Serving in The Korean War, Al began his career with the B&O railroad and then with the Staten Island Railway spending 41 years, retiring in 1996, Al was father of 3 children and grandfather of 8. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, Alexander N Lupo passed away peacefully on June 1st 2023.
Affectionately known as " Ada" by his many friends and family he was a lifelong resident of Rosebank. Al 's rank was private first class and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a dedicated father working his entire 41 years at what is now the Staten Island Railway clifton maintenance department starting as a machinist, progressing up to forman and then spending the last 15 years as superintendent. He was known for his sharp wit and would frequently say that he "had the whole railroad on his back" this was true but he knew that he could say this because he had a group of skilled machinists, electricians working for him and he appreciated all of their hard work. He was known to be a very good natured boss but when it came to getting the work done he was firm but fair.
Family and community was everything to Al. He was an active member of the RoseBank Cardinal Club & Havol Men's club serving as the President of the former. He traveled to Italy after retiring and also made many trips to Aruba with his entire family. He enjoyed playing cards and traveled to Las Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker. In his earlier days he enjoyed bowing and softball where he became a excellent pitcher developing an excellent "riseball". Most of all he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life Carmella, whom he was married to for 68 years. They enjoyed time at their condo in Bradley Beach where they would often spoil their grandchildren, and making trips to Maine with friends.
He is survived by his wife Carmella, daughter Cynthia Farina (Ron), daughter Sandra Lupo son James Lupo (Christine), He is also survived by his s grandchildren Jason Farina , Collette Delgado, John Delgado, Martine Delgado, Chelsea Lupo, Courtney Lupo, Kelly Sue Lupo, and James A. "Jimi" Lupo.
