Anne Marie was born in Brooklyn, NY, where her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit first began to blossom. In time, she moved to Staten Island with her beloved husband of 54 years, Edward Zajda. Anne Marie and Edward met in Brooklyn, where Edward was serving in the U.S. Army, and from that first chapter together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, devotion, and shared memories. They had a wonderful life together, and their family takes comfort in knowing they are now reunited in Heaven.
Anne Marie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted and wonderful mother, grandmother, and wife, as well as a beloved cousin and loyal friend to many. Her gentle nature, strength, and unwavering love touched all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her cherished children, Vito Zajda and Mamianne Bologna-Zajda, and was a proud grandmother to Annmarie Bologna-Zajda, who brought immense joy to her life. The bond she shared with her granddaughter was especially precious to her, and she took great pride in every milestone and moment they shared.
For over 25 years, Anne Marie was a dedicated employee of Macy’s Staten Island. She began as a holiday gift wrapper, carefully wrapping presents with the same care and thoughtfulness she gave to the people in her life, and eventually served in Sales Support. During her many years at Macy’s, Anne Marie formed lasting friendships that she deeply cherished, and her coworkers remember her for her kindness, reliability, and warm smile.
Anne Marie loved nothing more than being with her family. She also found great joy in the companionship of her beloved dogs, Zee and Willy. She had a fondness for horses and horse racing, enjoyed shopping with her friends, and taking long walks that gave her time to reflect and appreciate life’s simple blessings. Above all, the time she spent with her granddaughter especially summertime and pool time, this was her greatest joy, and she was incredibly proud of the young person she is.
Anne Marie will be deeply missed. Her family and friends miss her more than words can express, but their hearts are comforted by the belief that she is with God, reunited with her dear Edward, and that one day they will all see each other again.
“Life is changed, but not ended.”
