Anthony Petruzzi Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Petruzzi of Dongan Hills passed away surrounded by his loving family at University MC N. on Sunday.

Born in Concord Anthony attended Curtis High School where he was captain of both the baseball and basketball teams. Upon graduation he received an athletic scholarship to Wagner College. He attended Wagner for one year when he felt compelled to serve his country in the Korean war. Tony joined the Airforce and was stationed at Johnston Island, a remote island in the Pacific used for refueling.  When he returned home after service, he got a job with Bethlehem Steel. One year later he became a NYC Police Officer staying on the force for two years and transitioned over to the NY Fire Department retiring in 1974.

He is survived by his devoted wife S. Jean (nee Casesa) and his loving sons Frank and Philip (Joann). He is the cherished grandfather of Anthony, Christina, Michelangelo, Christina, Gina and Anthony.

In following the guidelines requested by the CDC and the NYS Department of Health all visitors are required to wear face masks covering nose and mouth while in the building. We request that all be mindful of social distancing protocols while visiting. To be respectful of the immediate family, we respectfully ask that visits be kept brief, approximately 20 minutes, to allow others the same opportunity while adhering to the regulations. Thank you.
