August (Augie) A. Tolomie

August A. Tolomie Jr., age 83 years of Spring Lake NJ, died peacefully on March 31st at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

August, known as “Jr," “Auggie” or "Uncle Augie"to family and friends, was born on February 17, 1942 in Staten Island, NY. He proudly served as a funeral director at Gutterman’s Funeral Home in New York City for over 30 years and then went on to own the Richmond Funeral Home in Staten Island, NY. He was a parishioner of St Anne’s Catholic Church in Staten Island, NY for over 60 years. He was known for his great story telling abilities, his empathetic spirit, and his gift of being able to calm and comfort others at times when they needed it the most.

August is survived by his childhood best friend, Beverly Higgins and her sister, Lorraine Morris, his niece Dawn Wall and his grand nieces, Katie McEvoy and Jackie Wall. He is preceded in death by his parents, August A. Tolomie Sr. and Edna Tolomie.
