Brian Vackner Obituary

Brian was born in Staten Island in 1988, and from the very beginning he had a spark about him. After graduating from Curtis High School, he jumped into construction, working his way up with determination until he became a project manager at Cross New York.

But Brian was so much more than his work. He was kind, generous, and funny. He loved his family and friends fiercely, and he was always the person who could bring fun and light into any room. His laugh, his energy, his presence—it was something you could feel the second he walked in.

Brian also had his passions—he loved music, sneakers, sports, and movies. He always had something playing, he always had the newest kicks, he could talk sports for hours, and he could quote lines from his favorite films. These weren’t just hobbies—they were a big part of what made him who he was, and they brought joy to both him and the people lucky enough to share those moments with him.

He carried many roles in life: son, brother, brother-in-law, fiancé, stepfather, grandson, cousin, uncle, nephew, friend, and colleague. And he did them all with love. He showed up, he gave his whole heart, and he made each relationship matter.

Even though this loss feels unbearable, we take comfort in knowing he didn’t suffer, and that he is at peace. One day, we’ll be with him again.

Brian leaves behind his loving fiancée, Carla, and his stepson, Jayden, who he loved immensely. His proud parents, Jim and Doreen. His sister, Melissa, and her wife, Nichole. His nephews, Connor and Logan, who adored their Uncle Brian. And countless cousins, friends, and family who will miss him forever.

We have lost a bright light. But Brian’s love for music, sneakers, sports, and movies, his laughter, and his spirit will stay with us always. When we hear a song he loved, watch a great game, or sit down for a movie night, we’ll feel him there with us—smiling, laughing, and reminding us to live with the same love and joy that he gave us.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Brian;s name to StepForward20 Inc., a charity he was deeply passionate about. StepForward 20 bridges the world of sports and technology by introducing youth to aerial robotics-building, aerial photography, racing and flying--so every child, regardless of background has the opportunity to rise, compete and lead in tomorrow's world.

****DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILY, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE CHURCH SERVICE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY FLOWERS. DONATIONS TO BRIAN'S FAVORITE CHARITY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.****
