Delia Lopez

Delia Lopez was born in 1932, in Espinosa, Puerto Rico to Ana Villalobos and Simon Cruz. She came to New York City in the 1940's without knowing any English. She was known as Luz Delia Cruz. It was a teacher who changed her name because Luz Cruz sounded too much like "loose screws". She met her husband, Leonardo Lopez in 1962. They settled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where they welcomed 3 children, Joseph, Michael and Azalia. She was a fantastic mother and an even better grandmother to Olivia, Gabriel, Emily, Vespasian and Violetta.

Delia joins her Leonardo and her son Michael. She leaves behind her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grand child, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all and will always and forever be in our hearts.
