Donna DeStefano Obituary

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother

DONNA K. DeSTEFANO (nee Trapani), age 69, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2021 after a short illness.  A native of Staten Island, Donna was born and raised in South Beach.  Donna was the devoted daughter of the late Millie and Gus (Chubby) Trapani.  She attended St. John Villa Academy and after graduation, was employed by Manufacturers' Hanover Trust, where she met the love of her life, John DeStefano.  They were married in 1974 and she left the workforce when she became a mother, to raise her two children.  She later returned to work, first as a teller at Staten Island Savings Bank and retired as a loan officer at Santander Bank after a total of 37 years of service.  Donna loved to cook and bake and carry on the Sicilian traditions of her mother and grandmother especially for Fat Tuesday, St. Joseph's Day, Easter and Christmas.  She was a selfless, loving and caring woman who cherished her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren often attending their various sports events.  Donna is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, John and loving son, John A. DeStefano and daugher-in -law Jasmine and daughter, Joanne Figueroa and son-in-law Samuel, her cherished grandchildren, Samuel, Elijah, Noah and Luke Figueroa, JT and James DeStefano, Rebecca Sinibaldi, Sarah Gonzalez and Jonathan Perez.  She is also survived by her devoted sister, Rosalyn Palladino and brother-in-law Vincent and dear cousins, Carmel Mazzaro, Maria McEvoy and Rosalie Preuss, whom she considered  sisters. Donna was also survived by her extended family of many cousins and relatives and many loving friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Martin Hughes Funeral Home 530 Narrows Road S At Britton Ave, Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday 10 am at St. Ann's RC Church.
