Douglas Smith Obituary

Douglas Smith, caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away at
his home on November 28, 2022.
Doug was born in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest of three
siblings. He and his wife Dorothy lived in Mt. Holly, NJ for several years before settling in
Staten Island, NY to raise their son, Kenneth.
Doug worked at DTCC in Manhattan for nearly 40 years as a financial clerk before
retiring to Clearwater, FL. He was a proud Navy veteran, having served on the USS Neosho. He
continued to enjoy boating throughout his life.
Doug was an outgoing and generous friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed spending
time with his family and friends, especially the Thursday Night Football Crew. Doug never
turned down a chance to watch the NY Yankees.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Louise; Dorothy, his cherished wife
of 38 years; and beloved grandson, Matthew. He is survived by a son, Kenneth and his wife
Jennifer; a sister Jaqueline and her husband Hardy; and sister Paula. Douglas will be dearly
missed.
