Edward J. Carney of Ft. Wadsworth passed away suddenly on Nov. 07. He was born in Rosebank to Joseph
and Katherine Carney. He attended the McKee H.S. and immediately upon graduation joined the US Army. He
was placed in the Special Services Unit, replacing Eddie Fisher, and sang for our troops in Germany during the
Korean Conflict. When he returned from his military service, he met the love of his life Joan (nee McGowan).
They were married shortly thereafter. He began his career as a trainman for the SIRT, eventually became a
Chairman representing 17 associated unions, he was elected an international officer based in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ed and Joan had 10 children, he was the devoted father of Katherine Crocco, Julie Errico (Jay), Colleen Luli
(Ed), Theresa Patrone (Anthony), Regina Tedesco (Sal), Edward (Ann Marie), Mary Grace, Joseph, Matthew
and Martin. He was the cherished grandfather or 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Ed was a parishioner of St. Mary’s RC Church for over 70 years, he served as a trustee, parish manager, plant
consultant, lector, Eucharistic minister, parish choir and was the cantor for weddings and funerals. He was
deeply saddened at the closure of the parish but was warmly received by St. Charles and Holy Rosary
Churches. He continued his musical ministry at St. Charles until his passing.
Corona Virus Policy:
In following the guidlines requested by the CDC and the NYS Department of Health all visitors are required to wear face masks covering nose and mouth while in the building. We request that all be mindful of social distancing protocols while visiting. To be respectful of the immediate family, we respectfully as that visits be kept brief to allow others the same opportunity while adhereing to the regulations.
