Eleanor "Cookie" Jones

Eleanor was born to Clarence and Eleanor Jones and raised IOn White Street in Staten Island, Ny. She was a lifelong resident of Rosebank.

She attended St. Mary's and graduated in 1958,then went to St. Joseph Hill Academy, graduating in 1962. Upon graduating Eleanor went to work at her father's place of business, El-nor Medical Supply Co., located at 21 Whitehall Street. The Business  closed permanently in 1974. She later got a job At Seaview Hospital Rehabilitation as a telephone operator , where she worked from 1973-1986, transferring to Neposit Health Care Center In Queens where she worked as a medical receptionist, retiring in 2006. After serving her city for 36 years she started to enjoy time with her son Richard, her family and her friends. She loved swimming, reading and watching her favorite tv shows. 

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Richard Jones after 35 years of marriage. She is survived by her son Richard, who was born on his parent's 12th wedding anniversary, Also surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Uhifielder; her sister-in-law Helen Jones; her God-daughter Debra Jones Rivera; 2 nephews; 5 nieces, 4 great-nieces, 4 great-nephews.

Please join us for a celebration of her life on Wednesday, December 29th, at the Martin Hughes Funeral Home, 530 Narrows Road South, Staten Island, NY 10304, from 5-9pm. On Thusday there will be a funeral mass at St. Ann's Church at 10am , followed by a committal at St. Mary's Cemetery.
