Frances G. Cammarata

Frances Cammarata, a Life-long Staten Islander of South Beach, has gone on to join her late husband, Thomas Cammarata. She lived just a few weeks short of her 93rd birthday. She enjoyed a life full of deep friendships and love for her family, especially her childhood sweetheart, “Tommy”.   

     A loyal friend to many, Fran was committed and served for many years at her local Friendship Club in Arrochar. Early on, Fran was a hard working, career-woman traveling to Manhattan often.  Fran’s life was a collection of chapters that told a story of dedication, love, and kindness.  Her home was filled with laughter and the sweet aroma of fine Italian Cuisine.  Fran loved her home so much and it was always her wish that she could stay in her home her whole life until the Lord took her to her final home and that wish came true.  You could always find her singing and smiling there.

      She loved to cook for her husband, travel, crochet and most of all, spend time with loved ones.  Her hobbies included collecting beautiful porcelain dolls and caring for her two parakeets.  Although Frances did not have children of her own, she was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and considered her long standing neighbors as her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her “little Indians” and “my Danny” was the son she never had. Nicolina and Daniela knew Frances only as “ Grandma Free” . 

    Fran’s life was a tapestry of love and community.   Fran was an active-parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Arrochar.  She cared so deeply for the people around her and befriended all she met. 

    Franny lived a full, beautiful life!  She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Camarata, and  is lovingly remembered by all who knew her well.      

     Viewing arrangements will take place this Friday at Martin Hughes Funeral Home at 11 am. Burial and lunch to follow.
