Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister Frances Ann Lamantia passed away on January 30th, 2025. Frances battled non alcoholic liver cirrhosis for years before succumbing to complications from the disease. She was 82 years old. She was surrounded by her family in the final weeks leading up to her death. Frances was born on September 16th, 1942 and grew up in Greenwich Village NYC, Manhattan. She was raised by her parents Delia and Harold Watson. The oldest of three children, she had a deep sense of family obligation and an incredible ability to care for others. Frances was married to her husband Joseph on June 2, 1962, for 62 years. Together they had four children and built a life based on strong family values and a strong Catholic faith. At the age of 36, after recurring dreams of tending to newborn infants in a hospital nursery, Frances enrolled in the nursing program at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY where she received her Associate of Applied Science, in 1984. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in nursing at College of Staten Island, 1989. Her career as a Certified Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse included several positions at various healthcare institutions, including: 1984-1988 - Staff Registered Nurse, Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY 1988-1991 - Staff Registered Nurse, St. Vincent's Medical Center of Richmond, S.I. 1988-1990 - Public health nurse, staff National Cadet Corps, Metropolitan Jewish Geriatric Center, Brooklyn, NY 1991-1993 - staff nurse surgical intensive care, Coney Island Hospital, NY 1993-1994 - staff nurse Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Maimonides Hospital Open Heart Surgery in Brooklyn, NY Achievements - Co-author of the NCLEX Pharmacology study guide – released by Critical Difference, the nursing professionals - Frances Lamantia has been listed as a noteworthy Medical/surgical nurse by Marquis Who's Who - Served in the United States Army Nurse Corps Reserves at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, New York Frances Ann was predeceased by her parents Harold and Delia Watson and is survived by her sister Helen Spalding, her brother John Watson, her husband Joseph, their four children, Joseph, Lisa, Christopher and Peter, her son in law Bill Killips, daughter in law Pauline, and her five grandsons Billy, Andrew Killips, Peter, John, and James Lamantia.
