Hermando “Spanky” Folla passed away peacefully Saturday evening at University MC North. Hermando was born in the Bronx and moved to Staten Island as a child and was raised in Rosebank by the Cavallo family. As a young man he attended and graduated from McKee High School. Upon graduation Hermando served our nation by joining the Marine Corps. He served during the Korean Conflict. He had a distinguished career as a Marine earning a Purple Heart and attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his service Hermando returned to Rosebank to meet and marry his wife of 64 years Ada (nee Mazzaro). He began his life’s work as a union sheet metal worker, working on projects in New York and New Jersey. To his credit he had specialized projects such as the Pegasus Restaurant and military kitchens. He is survived by his wife Ada, sons Christopher, Steven (Lois), and Scott and his daughter Cathleen Williams (Stephen). He is also the adored grandfather of Kerriann and Anthony.
