JoAnn Fox Obituary

Born in Brooklyn, JoAnn married her childhood sweetheart, Henry Fox, at just 18 years old. Together, they built a beautiful life in Staten Island, raising a family and founding The Children’s Playhouse, which they owned and operated for nearly 50 years. Through their dedication and care, they became an important part of the lives of generations of local families.

JoAnn will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the lasting impact she made on so many people. For more than five decades, she dedicated herself to nurturing and caring for children through her daycare, becoming a trusted and beloved presence in countless families’ lives.

Known for her impeccable sense of style and gracious spirit, JoAnn had a natural gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. She embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in the simple pleasures that meant the most to her. She loved antiquing, searching for unique treasures and hidden gems, and nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than spending time with her beloved grandson, Grey-Grey, and watching him grow.

She also enjoyed the excitement of casino trips, especially playing the slot machines. Whether it was the anticipation of a jackpot, the thrill of a lucky streak, or celebrating a win with family and friends, those outings brought her tremendous joy and created many cherished memories.

Above all, JoAnn’s greatest pride was her family. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and a constant source of love, strength, and support to those closest to her.

She is survived by her loving son, Glen; daughter-in-law, Kristin; and cherished grandson, Greyson; her brothers, Vincent and James; sisters-in-law, Eileen and Gina; and her beloved nephews, James, Robert, Adam, and Scott, and nieces, Jacklyn, Christina, Lauren and Rachael

JoAnn will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit, compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for family will continue to live on in the memories she created and the countless lives she touched.
