Joan C. McIntyre passed away unexpectedly on November 29th, 2020. Born to Walter and Martha Ohnmacht in her beloved Brooklyn, she grew up alongside her sister Rita and brother Walter (Wally). She graduated Catherine McAuley High School for Girls, and then went on to work for The Bell Telephone Company, where she met the love of her life Charles Peter McIntyre. Her "Petey" was working for Western Electric in the same building that she worked in for Bell Telephone. She caught his eye right away and approached her friends to get her phone number. She played hard to get, but relented and decided to let him take her on a date. The first date they went on was to see a Dean Martin movie, whom she loved, and from that point on she fell head over heels. They married in 1959 and raised 4 children together, Peter, Tommy, Marianne (Marnie) and Matthew.
Joan was a devoted wife and mother, returning to work after being a full time Mom to help provide for her family. She worked for many years in Citibank, retiring in 1986.
Joan was full of life and love. She enjoyed music, dancing, bingo and mostly spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In 2012, her Petey passed away after 53 years of marriage.
Surviving are her sons, Peter, Thomas and Matthew McIntyre; daughter Marianne Lesamiz; granddaughters, Kim, Jill and Emily Lesamiz; grandson Sean McIntyre; and her sister Rita Mullen.
There will be a wake on Tuesday, December 1st, from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Martin Hughes Funeral Home, in Concord. On Wednesday at 10:15am, there will be a mass of christian burial at St. Charles Church, in Oakwood, followed by a committal at Ocean View Cemetery.
