Joseph Caso Obituary

Joseph P. Caso, age 86, of Staten Island New York, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Joe was predeceased by his wife Ann E. Caso, his brother Frank Caso, and his parents Felicia and Jerry (Gennaro). He is survived by his sons, Christopher and Jeffrey, and his grandchildren Jenna, Daniella and Nicholas.
Joe was born in 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, where he lived his childhood and early adult years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College, a path highly encouraged by his father, who unfortunately died at an early age. He proudly served his nation as a member of the National Guard, stationed at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY. His service to his country would be followed by his son Jeff, who both reflects and carries on Joe’s love for his country.
Professionally, Joe led a distinguished career as a human resources professional on Wall St. He retired as a Special Limited Partner leading the human resources team at Spear, Leeds and Kellogg where he was part of the leadership team of one of the preeminent specialist firms on the New York Stock Exchange.
Joe moved to Staten Island in 1965, after meeting the enduring love of his life, his wife Ann, to whom he would be married until her death in 2011. Joe and Ann raised their sons in Staten Island. Joe pursued numerous interests, including serving as President of Richmond Boro Gun Club, through which he enjoyed the camaraderie of his many friends and his passion for hunting. Joe was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, wherein he also enjoyed the company of friends. Joe was a passionate Yankees fan, and passed that passion down to his sons.
Upon Joe's retirement, Joe and Ann permanently moved to their home in Hamden, NY, where he became a beloved and prominent member of the community. Joe and Ann both became avid  snowmobilers, and Joe served as President of the Hamden Hill Ridge Riders Snowmobile club.
But Joe's true passion was his family. He was a devoted husband to Ann for 46 years. As an expression of his love and devotion, Joe’s remains will be combined with Ann’s and their combined remains will be interred in a ceremony to be held at Woodland Cemetery in Delhi NY, where they will rest together. Joe was equally passionate about his sons and grandchildren, and never passed up the opportunity to express his pride in all his family members.
Joe’s exceptional life will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass at St. Sylvester’s Church, 854 Target St., Staten Island, NY, on Wednesday, August 24 at noon. In lieu of a traditional wake Joe’s sons will host a reception for all family and friends to celebrate Joe, on the Staten Island waterfront at Paradise Island (225 Ellis St, Staten Island, NY), from 2pm until 7pm.
To reflect Joe’s fervent love for his country and those that serve it, Joe’s family invites those wishing to honor his memory to make donations to Wounded Warrior Project. Joe will be sorely missed by his family and all the lives he touched during his extraordinary life. But he will surely never be forgotten.
