Joseph Lichaa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1943 to Rachel and Selim Lichaa. In pursuit of opportunity and a better future, the Lichaa family left Egypt and settled briefly in Paris, France, where they lived for eleven months before immigrating to New York City in 1963—beginning a new chapter in America.
Shortly after arriving in the United States, Joseph was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent for basic training at Fort Rucker in Alabama. It was there that fate intervened, and he met the love of his life, Glenda. They married and made their home in Enterprise, Alabama, beginning a partnership filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering love that would last an extraordinary 59 years.
While living in Black, Alabama, Joseph and Glenda welcomed their first child, Regina. Joseph served honorably in the Army for four years and was discharged on November 17, 1967. Following his military service, the young family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where their son David was born in November 1970. In 1980, Joseph and Glenda purchased a home in Staten Island, New York, and two years later, their youngest daughter, Danielle, was born in August 1982. Staten Island remained their cherished home for the rest of Joseph’s life.
Joseph was a devoted husband, a loving and proud father, and a cherished grandfather. He was known for his quiet strength, deep sense of responsibility, and steadfast commitment to his family. His life was defined by hard work, loyalty, and love, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will continue through generations.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda; his children Regina Solina, David Lichaa, and Danielle Lichaa; his 5 grandchildren that he loved dearly, Samantha Solina, Joseph Solina , Frank Lichaa , Jamie Lichaa and Gavin Kiloh Lichaa; and his siblings Habib Lichaa, Regina Leonardi, Mary Lichaa, and Jack Lichaa. He was predeceased by his sister, Lilly Lazerovics. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Joseph Lichaa will be remembered always for the life he built, the family he cherished, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
