Judith A. Van Pelt (née Smith) was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister. She was born in March of 1950 in Staten Island, and lived there for most of her life. She lived out her passion for public service as a Captain for the New York City Department of Correction for 15 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Judy was preceded in death by her mother the late Francis S. Smith and her father the late James H. Smith. She leaves behind a loving legacy of her devoted children; son Gary E. Van Pelt (Michelle) and son Gregory J. Van Pelt; beloved siblings James Smith and Eileen Schott, and cherished grandchildren Sean M. Van Pelt and Gary J. Van Pelt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
