It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence L.
Ohara “Larry” announce his passing on Saturday February
22 nd 2025 at the age of 76.
Born and raised in Staten Island New York, Larry lived
almost his entire life in Rosebank before moving to North
Carolina in July 2024, due to health issues. You would
often find him at Nick’s Luncheonette for a late breakfast
or the Dunkin Donuts.
Larry was predeceased by his parents Henry and Mary
Brancatelli, his brothers Ricky and Arthur, and many
beloved family members. He is survived by 3 nephews, a
niece and many cousins who will miss him dearly.
Mr Ohara worked in several jobs before starting at Staten
Island Care Center in 1974, retiring after 36 years of
service. Along the way he made many life long friends. He
was an avid Mets fan and a lover of dogs, which he
referred to as monkey facies. He enjoyed listening to
music, especially Elvis, Connie Francis and Shania Twain
to name a few.
He will also be dearly missed by the members (friends) of
the Ocean Yacht Club. He talked about the men all of the
time and how much he missed going there and seeing
everyone. We are grateful to the Commodore John, for
staying in touch with Larry. We are also grateful and
thankful for the kindness of Rose and Tom, Mark and
Eleanor and Eddie and Maureen, true friends that he loved
like family.
Larry loved family. He loved a gathering and never came
empty handed. He was the first person to show up when
you needed a hand and he never forgot a birthday or a
special occasion.
Mr Ohara attended St Rita’s RC Church, where he was an
usher.
We will gather on Friday March 14 th from 4-8 at Martin
Hughes Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass will be
Saturday March 15 th St Rita’s Catholic Church at 10am.
