Lori Ellen Trabisco, known to some as Lady Lulu and known to all who had even the slightest contact with her as an open-hearted, generous exemplar of love, passed away on April 29, 2025, at Staten Island University Hospital South surrounded by her loving family. She was 63 years old. Born in Stapleton on August 29, 1961, Lori was a life-long islander, spending her early years in Stapleton and the majority of her adult life in Rosebank. A world class cook, Lori fed entire families, neighborhoods, and parishes with her signature Chicken Francaise, incomparable potato salad, and exquisite eggplant parmesan.
After graduating Curtis High School, Lori had a short stint at Richmond County Savings Bank as well as at the sheltered workshop, A Very Special Place, until an injury forced her departure. She raised two twin boys, Joseph and Richard McLaughlin, who survive her. She is also survived by her brother Richard Trabisco and a score of cousins, aunts and uncles, who will miss her terribly. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Molly and John (Chuckie) Trabisco, her brother John Trabisco, and her sister-in-law Debbie Trabisco.
A wake will be held at Martin Hughes Funeral Home at 530 Narrows Road S on Friday, May 2. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 9 pm, followed by a funeral mass at St. Peter’s Church, located at 53 St. Mark’s Place, on Saturday, May 3, at 10:00 am.
