God blessed this earth with Marianna De Presca when she was born to Carmela and Francesco
Bruzzese in Washington, DC on August 23, 1931. The family relocated to Boro Park, Brooklyn, New York
where Marianna was raised and schooled in both the Public and Catholic School System, she was proud
to be a High School Graduate. Marianna married in 1950 and relocated to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, out of
that union came her three children, Josephine Restivo, Philip Restivo, and Frank Restivo.
Marianna was a loving, dedicated mother who raised her children to be loving, kind and respectful,
especially to each other. She sacrificed on a daily basis to give her children all they needed for a safe and
loving up bringing. The children could attest that Marianna was very engaged in their school career
always attending open school week, parent teacher conference, and any event or show that parents were
welcome to attend, loving gestures that will always be remembered.
From the early 1960’s Marianna worked as a clerk at The Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn at the
Bensonhurst branch, now a Chase Bank, until her retirement in 1993. It was while working at the bank
that she met her second husband to be, Jack De Presca. Marianna and Jack were married in November
of 1981. Jack already owned a house in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, and this became the marital residence
until Jack’s death in June 1992. Marianna relocated to Manor Heights, Staten Island in 1994 to be closer
to her children and grandchildren. Being the type not to stay idly at home Marianna began a twenty-year
career as a volunteer at The Clove Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a short walking distance
from her new home, and was proud to end her tour with a prestigious award for being an Outstanding
Volunteer. Marianna left her home and took residence at the Island Shores on Fr. Capodanno Blvd until
it’s closing caused her to relocate to the Esplanade on Richmond Avenue. When relaxing at home she
enjoyed reading human interest stories and modern history published stories and books
Marianna was a beautiful woman who loved life. She lived every day with a smile on her face and took
time with everyone she encountered. When she said, “Hi, how are you?” she really meant it because she
really cared. Marianna also cared about her family whom she enjoyed spending time with, cooking for and
offering her home for family gatherings on any Sunday or special occasion that may come along. Her
children and grandchildren were the epicenter of her life.
Marianna is survived by her sister, Lucy Manno, three devoted children; Josephine Restivo and Jerry
Stokes, Philip Restivo and Anne Riccardi, and Frank Restivo and Gabby Borriello, five loving
grandchildren, Nicole Restivo Pereira, Jenna Restivo Baratta (Jason), Krista Restivo, Jason Restivo and Valerie Restivo,
and Francesco Restivo. and five great grandchildren, Leo Pereria, Jason Baratta, Adelina Pereira,
Jiavanna Baratta, and Nico Pereira, and former daughter-in-laws, Jean Ann Restivo and Elba Cintron. Marianna is also
survived by her loving devoted live-in caregiver, Nino Talikadze, whom she adored and trusted. Marianna
leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and any and all who were fortunate to
have known her and to be blessed with her gentle smile and kindness.
