Martin was always known to his family and friends as a hardworking, loving, caring, selfless, and humorous man. A loving husband, son, brother, uncle, Godfather, Brother-in-law, Son-in-law, nephew and man. He was the gold standard for the term “workaholic”. He was our modern-day Midas, capable of fixing anything he put his hands on. Martin spent much of his time as an auto and machinery mechanic but was also a lifelong contractor.
But for as much as he worked, he somehow always seemed to be “around”, prioritizing time with his family and friends. Whether it was spontaneous road trips to Seaside Heights with his nieces, nephews and Godchildren or his all-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink for as long as you want pool parties with his family and friends, it was Uncle Martin who was the curator of all these memorable moments. His selflessness transcended beyond his family and whether you were a close friend, friend of the family, or a neighbor, you knew that if you ever needed anything, big Marty would always be “around”. His giving nature and overall presence is why he is loved by so many and why his soul will live forever in our hearts.
Martin was survived by his childhood sweatheart and loving wife Debbie Rivera-Pena, his adoring mother Louise Hurd, Loving sister Malika Hurd and dear brother Tarique Hurd.
