Michael O. DePompo age 77 passed away on August 26, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family.
Michael was a Staten Island native (born August 4, 1946) growing up in Stapleton and graduating from Curtis High School. Michael served in the army before returning home to care for his beloved mother Margie.
Michael spent his days with his two loves…. his family and his horses. Michael trained and raced horses. Most days he could be found entertaining his aunts, uncles and nieces as he was truly a caregiver to his core. His love of horses filled the balance of his time, where he worked tirelessly on a farm as a horse trainer.
Michael was predeceased by his mother Margie DePompo ,Father, Santo DePompo and brother Tommy DePompo. He is survived by his two nieces Italia and Michelle and loved by many as was evident in his final days. Eternal gratitude for the generous support and kindness of his cousin Douglas “Buddy” Hass throughout his life. Also a huge thank you to all that care and helped out on his last days of life, His beloved cousins, Mike DePompo, Frankie Calcutta and Vinny Trimarco. Also his niece Italia DePompo who never left his side.
On Thursday, August 31st there will be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Michael Pompeo at the Martin Hughes Funeral Home, 530 Narrows Road South, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm.
