Monserrate Figueroa

Beloved, amazing, and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend,Monserrate Figueroa, 80, passed away on October 15, 2022 surrounded by family singing songs
of worship as she went to meet her Heavenly Father. She was survived by her husband of 58years, Reverend Daniel Figueroa, their children, David Figueroa, Samuel Figueroa, Wilbert
Figueroa, and Mereleen Figueroa, and daughters-in-law, Joanne Figueroa and Lina Figueroa.She was predeceased by her children, Daniel Figueroa Jr., Elizabeth Perez, and Jennifer Guzman.Monserrate, was an adored and loved grandmother of Rebecca Sinibaldi, Sarah Gonzalez,Jonathan Perez, Samuel Figueroa, Elijah Figueroa, Noah Figueroa, Luke Figueroa, Isabella Figueroa, and a cherished great grandmother of Jace Sinibaldi and Elysia Gonzalez.Monserrate, lovingly nicknamed “Mamita,” meaning little mother, and “Taty,” was known as a
mother figure to all. She lived her life unselfishly caring for others. As a child and adolescent,she grew up in Puerto Rico where she helped her mother, Fidela, who worked as a midwife.
Taty was a natural nurturer and an extremely hard worker. Taty moved to Staten Island and eventually settled in Mariners Harbor. She was devoted and committed to her family and her
faith. She raised her family alongside her husband, Daniel, as he pastored at Rehoboth Pentecostal Church. Children and caring for others were her joy, and she opened her home and
heart to her family, friends, and foster children. Taty spent a lot of her time in the kitchen,preparing meals that brought her family together. Her home was a place where anyone could
stop by and be greeted with warmth, love, a hot meal, and laughter. She showed God’s love in everything she did, leading by example, and shining God’s light to everyone who had the
pleasure of knowing her.Taty touched the lives of many, and her kind and good heart will be greatly missed. Taty lived by the following mottos she shared with us often; “it’s nice to be nice” and “do good today so you can be happy tomorrow.” Though she is departed from this world, her wise words and spirit live on in the hearts of her family and loved ones. During difficult times such as these, we find comfort in another of her encouragements she shared during especially difficult days; “One day at a time sweet Jesus.”

Family and friends may visit on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at MartinHughes Funeral Home; 530 Narrows Road, Staten Island, NY 10304. Service will be held on
October 22, 2022 at 10:00am at Rehoboth Pentecostal Church; 36 Willowbrook Road, StatenIsland, NY 10302 with a final resting place at Ocean View Cemetary; 3315 Amboy Road, Staten
Island, NY 10306.
