Paul Polemeni Obituary

Although it was much too short, Paulie lived life to the fullest. Paul was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 15, 1972, the son of Elizabeth and Ignatius Polemeni. He was proud of his heritage being an Italian Irish man. Growing up in Bay Ridge was something Paulie loved, hanging out with his friends at the park, on the corner, always playing some type of sport, especially hockey, and baseball. He was so proud to have grown up in Bay Ridge and lived the life of a kid in the neighborhood that he loved.  Paulie loved growing up alongside John, his sister-in-law Dottie and his nieces and nephews John, Heather, and Kelly. Paul attended Our Lady of Angels elementary school and then went on to high school at Fort Hamilton and Saint Peters Boys High School. He made tons of friends throughout his childhood in Bay Ridge and continued to visit up until his last days. Paulie continued his education and attended Kingsborough Community College where he graduated with his associate's degree.

He entered a career in law enforcement and graduated from the police academy in 2000.  He made lifelong friends within the blue line and made over 1000 arrests.

Paul met Cristina Hobbesland and got married on June 22nd, 2002.  Together they enjoyed taking vacations, going to the movies, and going out on dates. Paul and Cristina purchased a home in Staten Island, working side by side with his father-in-law Alfred, they renovated the entire house for about one year. On May 7th, 2003, Cristina and Paul were blessed with the birth of twins Matthew and Alyssa, and again on December 20th, 2004, they were blessed with the birth of their son Christopher.  Their house in Staten Island now became a home.

Paul climbed the ladder of success and became a Gold Shield Detective for the NYPD. He loved coaching his kid's baseball and softball teams and was great at what he did. He had loved watching them play as well and he loved that they were as passionate about sports as he was, he was so very proud of them.  He always cheered for everyone, no matter the circumstance. With much encouragement and determination, he was responsible for having the honor, along with his wife, seeing all three of their children graduate from high school with sports scholarships to prestigious four-year colleges. Paulie was so instrumental in making sure his children reached their highest potential and did everything possible to make all his children's dreams come true.

Paulie lived life to the absolute fullest, he enjoyed meals with his family, loved to BBQ, eating steak, and Italian food, especially chicken cacciatore made by his mother and his wife. He looked forward to the great times he had on Long Beach Island, NJ. Paulie loved the comradery he had with all his friends and family. Everyone that met him loved him.  He was an avid sports fan rooting for his teams: the Jets, Yankees, and Rangers. He loved golfing with his friends and took in all life had to offer him.

Paul leaves behind a great legacy, he impacted his children's lives with hopes and dreams, he respected the law, his badge, his fellow working police officers, and a long list of loving friends.- not just adults but kids he met on and off the field, who he treated like his own. It's now time- a time much too soon for Paulie to begin his new journey. He will be greatly missed by all, no one will ever be able to replace him. May he rest in eternal peace and may all the promises our Lord has made be bestowed upon him.
