Raymond Bush was born in 1951 and grew up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Rayond was a street-kid who excelled in outdoor games, particularly stickball.
Raymond also displayed patience and attention to detail evident in hours spent customizing model tanks, aircraft and vehicles. He returned to this passion later in his retirement
Raymond attended St Alphonsus Elementary School. He graduated Bishop Loughlin High School in 1970, simultaneously earning a diploma and a reputation for being "mischievous."
In 1977, Raymond joined the MTA Bridges and Tunnels as an Officer, eventually rising to Deputy Chief of Operations in 2002. He served the community with pride, most notably as a First Responder on September 11.
Though he retired in 2010, Raymond never sat still. He travelled extensively with his wife, Shirley, a favorite destination being across the pond, Great Britain.
A student of history, Raymond actively expanded his knowledge through reading and enrolling in online courses. He took pride cultivating his back-yard garden growing varieties of flowers and vegetables.
But perhaps his greatest satisfaction derived from the time he spent with his niece and eight grandchildren. Raymond will live through the memories he provided to family, friends and colleagues as a loyal, compassionate person who found humor in all circumstances.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Raymonds name may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital
