Master Sergeant Robert Lee Edwards., retired, passed away on April 25, 2021 at Staten Island University Hospital North at the age of 91. Robert or as his close friends and family calls him Bob or “PapaBob”, was born on November 2, 1929 in Minden Nebraska to Deborah and Lewis Edwards. Bob was a decorated US Air Force who was honorably discharged in August of 1971 with under 30 years of service. He grew up in a farm in Sumas Washington with his 5 brothers and sisters. Bob settled and resided in Kent Washington for many years with his first wife Frances, their dog Romeo with no kids.
After his service in the US Air Force, Bob pursued his education and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Seattle University for Alternative Medicine for Detoxification. Bob started his second career as a counselor at a Detox Center in Seattle Washington with his first wife Frances, until she passed away. After a few years, Bob met Teresita (Tita) and as they say… the rest is history. Bob married Tita Valino on June 17, 2004 and was together for 17 years. With having no immediate family in Seattle, they both moved back to Tita’s hometown of Staten Island where they spent each other’s company along with his new adopted family.
He loved being outside and staying active. Bob loved to travel and determined to see the world. He loved experiencing different things and was open to anything out of the ordinary. He loved his adopted family with Tita and loved Tita wholeheartedly. They were fortunate enough to get a second chance at love which is something that doesn’t come very often. Love is patient, love is kind. Cherish each moment.
