Robert R. Nixon, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and retired NYPD officer, passed away on May 26, 2025, at the age of 62.

Born on January 26, 1963, Robert lived a life defined by service, love, and unwavering strength. He served proudly as a member of the New York City Police Department, where he spent his career protecting and serving the people of the city he loved. A 9/11 responder, Robert demonstrated tremendous courage during one of the most difficult times in our nation’s history—his sacrifice and dedication will never be forgotten.

Robert was a loving husband to his beloved wife Gloria, and a proud father to his two sons, Robert and Gregory. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, especially his two cherished grandsons, whom he adored. His deep pride in them was evident in every story he told and every smile he shared.

He is also survived by his three siblings, who knew him as a loyal brother with a big heart and quick wit.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29th from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at Martin Hughes Funeral Home, 530 Narrows Road South, Staten Island, NY 10304.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 30th at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1091 Forest Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10310.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Robert’s memory.
