Ruth Vega Obituary

Ruth Marina Vega, age 79, passed away on January 13, 2021.  She was born on February 24, 1941 in Cuenca, Ecuador to the late Eduardo and Amalia Serrano.  She was preceded in death by her siblings Gustavo and Hortensia Serrano, as well as being survived by her sister Ligia Serrano.

She married Guillermo Vega in 1969 and together they had five children.  She was preceded in death by her son Edwin Vega.  She is survived by her three sons, a daughter, three daughter-in-law’s, and a son-in-law:   William and Tara Vega, Franklyn and Karina Vega, Bruno and Olieties Vega, Deanna and Wayne King.  As well as being survived by thirteen grandchildren:  Alex, Alyson, Ashlee, Amber, Anthony, Frank, Alexis, Isabella, Christopher, Celeste, Bruno, Alicia, and Wayne.

Ruth immigrated from Ecuador to the United States in 1974 in search of a better life for her family.  She worked as a seamstress for most of her life and strived to give her children the opportunities that she never had in life.

Ruth faced many hardships in her life and always came through them with grace and dignity.  She taught her family the importance of determination and perseverance.  Most of all with her recent fight against cancer, which she refused to let beat her because she knew that her family still needed her.  She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
