Mrs. Sandra Gruber (Gaudenzi), most recently of West Roxbury, Massachusetts, died on November 7 th ,2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 75.

Sandra is survived by her son Matthew and his wife Kate (Maher), and her daughter Kate Mistretta.Loving grandmother to Annie and Jay Gruber, and Christian Mistretta. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law Renato and Barbara Gaudenzi, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Richard Gruber, her sister Stella Gaudenzi, and her parents Arnoldo and Louisa Gaudenzi.

Sandra was born in Brooklyn on September 13, 1947 to Arnoldo and Louisa Gaudenzi. She graduated from Lafayette High School and attended the College of Staten Island. She married her husband Richard, her high-school sweetheart, on May 3rd ,1969 and remained married until his death in 2004.

Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, nonna, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a source of happiness and inspiration for all who knew her; she was relentlessly positive especially in the face of difficult circumstances. She had an unparalleled ability to leave her family and friends with hope,optimism, and a smile after talking with her. She was a true partner to her husband Richard as he built a business focused providing on outpatient recovery services in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Sandra served an integral role in managing the non-clinical aspects of their business.

Sandra was devoted to her family and friends. She loved her various pets (Muskie, Boots, Max,Shannon, Jack, Pete and Duffy), cooking, listening to music (especially Italian singers!), history books,shows, and movies, and being Nonna to her grandchildren. She will be missed deeply by all who benefited from the blessing of knowing her.

A wake will be held on Monday, November 14th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Martin Hughes Funeral Home in Staten Island New York. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Finbar Church in Brooklyn at 10am onTuesday, November 15th with burial to follow at Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island. In lieu of flowers,donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association:
