We begin today with a tribute to a very well loved person, as we honor the life of Theresa DeChiara Linton, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. Theresa was born on December 9, 1943 in the Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn, New York and passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024 in Staten Island, New York after a courageous battle with pneumonia.
Theresa loved in Brooklyn for majority of her life being an attendant of P.S. 157 elementary school, Francis Scott Key Junior High School and Girls High School. At the age of 21, Theresa married the love of her life James and soon later became a mother to her only child Christine. While focusing primarily on being an attentive wife and mother, Theresa would have various jobs through the years working as a cashier, store clerk, sales associate and in the claims department at Royal Insurance. Her most important and favorite job was working as a Receptionist for Harlequin Books in Manhattan, NY from 1998 to 2015. After leaving Harlequin, Theresa retired.
Because of her positive personality, amazing sense of humor and kind heart, Theresa was beloved by all whom came in contact with.
Theresa is survived by her sister Carmela DeChiara Pepe, husband James Linton, her daughter Christine Linton Vavallo (Pietro Vavallo), her grandchildren Peter Vavallo and Nicolette Vavallo, her grand-pup Jax and great grand-pup Rocco, and her nieces and nephews. Theresa was predeceased by her parents Angelo Charlie DeChiara and Lucy Romanglio DeChiara, her brother in law Giacomo Pepe , her cat daughter Daisy and her grand-pup Bella.
