Veronica Hynes Obituary

Veronica A Hynes 71

Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Veronica A. Hynes (née Clifford), a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved grandmother,
peacefully transitioned to heaven on December 6, surrounded by her loving family at her home.
Born as Veronica Clifford in Brooklyn, NY, to Jerimah and Anna Clifford, she was one of 14 children.
At the age of 15, Veronica, along with her family, moved to Staten Island, where they resided in
various homes on the north shore. After graduating from high school, she pursued her education at
the College of Staten Island, earning her Associates degree and continuing on to achieve her
Bachelor of Arts degree.
Veronica passionately utilized her education to make a difference in the lives of children. She began
her career with the NYC Board of Education at PS 57 in their UPK program and later became the
UPK coordinator at Yelda V’d Yelda preschool.
Her heart resonated with the melodies of country and doo-wop music, and she found joy in attending
concerts featuring her favorite genres. Veronica was an avid fan of baseball, particularly the NY
Mets, and she cultivated a love for travel. Card games and occasional casino trips were occasions
for her to bond with her sisters and family, indulging her passion for friendly competition.
Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, William Hynes Sr., in 2004. She leaves behind a
legacy of love as the adoring mother of William Hynes Jr. (Tanya), Shawn Hynes (Nichol), Kelly
Hynes Barrios (Wayne), and the late Michael Hynes. She is the cherished grandmother of Celina,
Crystina, Gianna, Kaylie, Donovan, Michael Jr., Dylan, Olivia, Connor, and Logan. Veronica is
survived by her dear siblings Helen Jones, Margaret Davis, Dennis Clifford, Kathleen Blanda and
William Brown, and is also remembered in love by the late Patricia Balzomo, Theodore, Jeremiah,
Frederick, Joan Menken, Robert, Raymond, and Thomas.
Veronica was the bedrock of her family, known for her unwavering strength and unique way of
expressing herself. Always well-intentioned, she spoke her mind with a one-of-a-kind delivery, telling
you exactly what you needed to hear. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and wisdom
will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
