Vincent A. Piccone, M.D. died on January 2, 2025 on Staten Island, N.Y surrounded by his parents
and sisters. He succumbed to complications of Non Hodgkins lymphoma.
He was born on 12/30/1957 at St. Vincent’ Hospital in New York City.
He was the eldest of six children. Dr. Piccone grew up on Staten Island, N.Y. He spent summers with his
Grandparents in both Montreal, Quebec and Forty Fort, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Piccone graduated from Susan E. Wagner High School in 1975 within the top 10 th percentile
academically. With an aspiration to become a surgeon like his Father, he matriculated to the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both
Mathematics and Chemistry in 1979. He earned his M.D. degree From McGill University in Montreal,
Canada in 1983.
While studying Medicine at McGill, Dr. Piccone lived at The Presbyterian College. It is there that he
developed a deeper interest in religion and his own Catholic Faith.
Dr. Piccone pursued Residency training in General Surgery and practiced medicine for several years until
he developed health issues that limited his ability to practice. Throughout his life, he committed himself
to continuing his education in Medicine. On a daily basis he read and studied Harrison’s Textbook of
Medicine and is recognized for his encyclopedic knowledge of disease. He enjoyed discussing interesting
and challenging cases.
Dr. Piccone was a devout Catholic and his religious faith was central throughout his life. From his youth
he was an active member of St. Rita’s Parish on Staten Island, N.Y. When visiting his Sister’s home in
Pennsylvania he attended The Parish of Sts. Philip and James in Exton, Pennsylvania.
During his later years, he published 8 highly acclaimed books, the most recent of which is ‘The God Who
Answers Prayer.’ His other books include ‘Who is God’, ‘Vengeance and Forgiveness’, ‘What Jesus said
about the Path to Heaven and Hell’, ‘God and Sex’, ‘Some of God’s Miracles’, ‘A case For life’ and ‘Bad
Habits’. In all of his writings, Dr. Piccone sought to bring his readers to a closer understanding and
relationship with God.
Dr. Piccone was a committed advocate for the rights of the unborn and the sanctity of all human life. His
everyday life was directed by the 10 Commandments and the written directives of The Bible. He placed
strong emphasis on humility, selflessness and deference to God. He was widely viewed as the
penultimate gentleman in all things.
Dr. Piccone loved all forms of music having played the clarinet in high school. He loved caring for wild
birds and planting fruit trees. People enjoyed his wit and humor. He enjoyed walking, biking, swimming
and skiing. He enjoyed writing cards and letters. He had extensive travel experiences. Above all else, he
enjoyed spending time with his parents and extended family. He lived closely amongst his family and
was an important and highly valued of their lives and activities. He served as Godfather to his nephew
James Miller.
Dr. Piccone is survived by his parents, Vincent A. Piccone, Jr., M.D. and Colleen Piccone (nee Martin), his
siblings Michele R. Piccone, M.D., John Piccone and his wife Jackie Piccone (nee Jenei), Louis Piccone,
Esq. and his wife Elena Piccone, (nee ……..), Colleen Piccone, Esq. and Victoria Piccone, R.N. and nieces
and nephews Wills Miller, Luke Miller, Tyler miller, James Miller, Jenei Piccone, Newton Piccone, Edison
Piccone, Marianna Piccone, Amelia Piccone, Beau Nolan, Savannah Nolan and Kristen Badichek.
His life celebration will be held at St. Rita’s Church on Monday January 6, 2025 The Feast of The
Epiphany at 10 AM. There viewing will be at 8AM at Hughes Funeral Home.
